Warren Mitofsky has long been a pre-eminent figure in the survey research industry and a pillar of the NYAAPOR community.
His accomplishments are many: In addition to pioneering RDD sampling methods, he has served as executive director of the CBS News election and survey unit, and was executive producer of its election night broadcasts. He conducted the first exit polls (for CBS), started the CBS News/New York Times Poll, and founded Voter Research & Surveys (forerunner of the Voter News Service). Mr. Mitofsky has also served as president of AAPOR, NCPP, and the Research Industry Coalition. He received AAPOR's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 and is a fellow of both Harvard University's Shorenstein Center and the American Statistical Association.
