The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for an Associate Director of AP Program Strategy who will help refine, direct and execute the AP Program’s market research and intelligence processes to support the achievement of its business goals and help fuel innovation and growth. This position is resident at our New York City headquarters.

POSITION SUMMARY

Working with the Executive Director of AP Strategy Management, this individual will further AP’s efforts in qualitative and quantitative customer and market intelligence by strengthening its capabilities in the areas of market measurement and analytics, predictive modeling, and market research/customer analytics. This person serves a key role on the AP Strategy Management team, developing a culture of action, accountability, learning and results. Additionally, this individual must have the experience, tools and methodologies to address a variety of complex research needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the formulation and development of key strategic initiatives by supporting the creation of the appropriate analytical framework to test strategic hypotheses and insights.
  • Manage projects focused on market and competitive research, customer research, and data mining, resulting in recommendations and competitive positioning.
  • Lead or assist with the creation of all phases of business case creation and communication (e.g. market analysis, value proposition, strategic fit, economic models and launch) to support a new initiative.

  • Support the pursuit of a rigorous fact-based understanding of AP’s multiple market audiences and their behaviors to inform better go-to-market decisions based on market segmentation.
  • Responsible for framing the projects, setting priorities, gathering data, interviewing industry experts, etc.
  • Responsible for the compilation, analysis and management of key business and market indicators.
  • Develop surveys and analyze results to ascertain multiple customer audiences’ needs, acceptance, and satisfaction against competing demands as well as test new strategic concepts.
  • Conduct statistical, financial and economic analyses.
  • Leverage the College Board’s customer databases to derive insights to refine AP strategies.
  • Transform raw data and information into usable strategic knowledge using a high-level of analytical acumen, critical thinking, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment; work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • MA, MBA, MPA, or PhD required with specialization or advanced training in quantitative skills areas such as mathematics, operation science, or statistics.
  • Five plus years experience in executing / managing qualitative and quantitative market research analytics
  • Experience and confidence with applied statistics.
  • Experience working with evaluation and/or research contractors as well as designing and evaluating market research studies.
  • Knowledge of population sampling and survey weighting.
  • Strong understanding of general business principles, Go-To-Market strategies, relationships, key metrics, etc.
  • Proficiency with statistical software package (e.g. STATA, SPSS, SAS)
  • Experience with educational environment (K-12 and Higher Education) and products/services desirable.
