ACCOUNT DIRECTOR – INSIGHTS AND RESEARCH
Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide

Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide is looking to retain an Account Director – Insights and Research who will report in to the MD Insights and Research. The Account Director will work closely with the OPR InfoServices team as well as the MD Insights and Research. The position will include:

  • Counseling account teams across all practices and internationally on the appropriate use of research and measurement: recommending methodologies, determining project feasibility, and selling in research recommendations to clients
  • Managing primary research projects: designing instruments, selecting external research vendors, managing vendors, interpreting results and making recommendations based on findings.
  • Development of OPR thought leadership and expertise regarding target audiences, social trends and industry characteristics.
  • Managing a staff of two junior research associates.

This work will support existing accounts as well as new business pitches.

The position requires a minimum college degree in a relevant subject, with a graduate degree preferred. The candidate should have at least seven years’ experience in custom primary research as well as a familiarity working with syndicated and secondary research. Experience in research specifically to support Public Relations is preferred. The candidate should exhibit the ability to work closely with a variety of account teams across a full range of practice groups, to provide strong counsel and to work independently.

The Vice President of Public Affairs & Media uses an understanding of client needs to prepare proposals and budgets and proposals that attract and retain key accounts. 

You communicate regularly with current and potential clients to develop relationships, explore new business opportunities, and educate others about GfK Roper Public Affairs & Media and GfK Custom Research North America’s products and services.

Importantly, you maintain an active network of business leads.

City of New York Department of Housing Preservation and Development Office of the Chief of Staff/Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Planning, Policy, and Communications Division of Strategic Planning Program Evaluator

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development's (HPD) Division of Strategic Planning is seeking an experienced professional with proven research-based program evaluation design and execution experience.

Agency Background

HPD is a mayoral agency whose primary responsibilities include the creation of new affordable housing units; the preservation of existing units in the City's housing stock; and the enforcement of the City's Housing Maintenance Code. The agency has close to 3,000 employees and is led by Commissioner Shaun Donovan. It is in the middle of an ambitious ten-year plan to create or preserve 165,000 new units of affordable housing across New York City (for more information, please see our website at www.nyc.gov/hpd).

Position Description

The Program Evaluator will report to the agency's Director of Policy Research and Program Evaluation, who resides in the Division of the Strategic Planning, within the Office of the Chief of Staff/Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Planning, Policy and Communications. The Program Evaluator will work with the Director to develop and facilitate the agency's program evaluation agenda, as well as design and execute program evaluations. The Program Evaluator will be supported by a data analyst, and will work closely with both program staff and the Division's "in-house" consulting team as they execute corresponding process evaluations. Specific duties of the Program Evaluator include working with internal, senior-level stakeholders to identify and prioritize programs of interest for evaluation, developing preliminary program evaluation proposals for high priority areas of interest, selecting program evaluation proposals to be pursued, and designing statistically sound program outcome evaluations. For example, the Division's current program evaluation agenda includes an assessment of the extent to which coordinated and targeted investment of resources in a Brooklyn neighborhood improve housing, economic and social conditions and an evaluation of the differential effectiveness of the agency's various housing maintenance code enforcement strategies.

In executing program evaluations, the Program Evaluator will be responsible for all data collection and clean-up, statistical analysis and interpretation of results. The Program Evaluator will also be responsible for compiling, presenting and disseminating findings, as well as designing and implementing data management procedures in order to help provide a framework for future research.

Along with the Director of Policy Research and Program Evaluation, the Program Evaluator will be expected to work directly with stakeholders at all levels of the agency. As such, teamwork and relationship building will be essential components of the role. Though the Program Evaluator will work very closely with the Director of Policy Research and Program Evaluation, he or she should also be able to operate independently, carry out assignments in a timely fashion, and demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making.

This position requires the following education, experience and skills:

  • Masters or Doctoral Degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Sociology, Economics or other related field

  • 2 years of demonstrated skills in program evaluation design, including the identification of outcome measures, ensuring reliability and validity, sampling, primary and secondary data collection, data management and methods of analysis

  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in conducting descriptive and multivariate statistical analyses

  • Mastery of statistical software such as STATA or SAS

  • Enterprising and resourceful, organized and results oriented

  • Energetic, pro-active, collaborative and strategic

  • Strong written and oral communications skills

Reporting to the Sr. VP of the Financial Services Group, the Vice President of Business Development will be responsible for developing and managing client relationships within the U.S. and internationally. The Financial Services team provides research and consultative services to organizations that regulate, support and deliver services on a domestic and global basis. Current sub-sectors include banks, credit card companies, and insurance providers. The team is looking to expand within these sub-sectors and add others as the background of a candidate provides for growth. A national market research & consulting firm, is seeking a Research Director for their Technology Industry Group in Portland, OR or Atlanta, GA.  The Research Director is responsible for developing relationships with current clients and prospects to generate new business, growing existing accounts, and ensuring that all deliverables given to clients meet or exceed expectations.
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary client contact for all project-related issues and oversee other client service team members in project teams.
  • Ensure the project and research design of each study meets the client’s objectives. This involves executive review of screeners, questionnaires and quantitative reports.
  • Manage project budgets to ensure profitability and, as determined on a case-by-case basis, specific revenue goals.
  • Hold business development meetings with new and existing clients.

The Energy team provides research and consultative services to leading organizations in power generation, electricity and natural gas transmission and distribution, energy efficiency programs, renewables and alternative energy.  The team is already achieving growth in the efficiency/renewable/alternative sub-sector, and is looking to accelerate this growth aggressively by tapping into the candidate’s leadership skills, contacts, knowledge, and experience.
