Generative AI for Survey Research

Generative AI for Survey Research

Principles and Applications

Join NYAAPOR for an engaging two-hour webinar exploring the cutting-edge integration of Generative AI in survey research. Speakers include Joshua Lerner and Soubhik Barari (Research Methodologists at NORC), along with Yamil Vélez (Assistant Professor of Political Science at Columbia University).

The webinar begins with an accessible introduction, led by the NORC methodologists, to foundational Generative AI concepts, establishing the theoretical groundwork necessary for appreciating their application within survey research. The webinar will then examine specific areas where Generative AI demonstrates exceptional utility, including open-ended response analysis, dynamic survey generation, conversational interviewing, and missing value imputation.

Political scientist Yamil Velez will then share methodological and substantive insights from his own research on political psychology and issue representation, illustrating how Large Language Models (LLMs) can be employed in tailored experiments, crowdsourced adaptive surveys, and retrieval-augmented generation methods. He will discuss the rationale for employing tailored approaches in public opinion and psychology, highlighting how LLMs help address persistent questions in these fields.

This event will be moderated by Greg Bovitz, founder and CEO of a Bovitz Inc., a multidisciplinary market research and strategy firm.

The webinar will conclude with an open Q&A session.
